Heartopia is one of the latest charming new games in the life sim genre, offering leisurely gameplay where players can create their character, explore the world, discover new hobbies, design their dream home, make new friends and much more. Sin embargo, if you’re looking to get started with Heartopia, there are a few beginner tips and tricks you should know to help you get started with the free game. From building tips to practical details on NPCs and claimable rewards, these Heartopia lore pieces will make all the difference as you rack up more hours of in-game playtime.

Complete Daily Requests

In Heartopia, you must increase your DG membership level to unlock all hobbies in the game. These hobbies range from fishing and gardening to adopting cats and dogs. So if you want to have access to these features as quickly as possible, you need to do everything you can to beat these levels as quickly as possible.

One of the best ways to do this is through the daily resident requests system. Daily and Weekly Challenges refresh at 6am, with the weekly reset day being Saturday. Unfinished requests are not saved. Therefore, you need to ensure that you overcome these challenges every day. Luckily, most of these are relatively simple tasks, such as watering plants, gathering general resources and materials, or catching fish.

Completing these quests will give you medals. Once you have collected enough medals, you will advance to the next DG membership level. With each level, new features and hobbies such as co-op building, troubleshooting, plot expansions and more are unlocked.

Participate in rare weather events and general events

Heartopia winter event

The weather can actually be a great opportunity for players. Rare weather events tend to occur semi-regularly, including “rainbow” and “meteor shower” weather. Special conditions apply throughout the world during these times, including passive bonuses, special resources that can be discovered to improve your skills at certain hobbies, and there are even special NPC shop items and locations that are only available during these weather events.

Players can also plan ahead. By opening the weather viewer on their watch, they can see what weather events are planned for the current week, from rain and sun to spontaneous meteor showers!

In addition to weather events, you can also find other general events in the Events tab (the planet-shaped icon in the toolbar at the top right of your screen). This allows players to complete time-limited quests, earn special rewards, y más. Examples include the Pink Gacha Machine event, Festivals, Life Logs, and the Winter Season Prep event. Some events even introduce new mechanics and hobbies to the game, such as ice skating for the winter season, so players should make sure they make the most of every opportunity.

Waypoints on the map

The minimap is useful for tracking important locations and generally helping to find your way from location A to location B without getting lost. Sin embargo, there is also a very handy feature that you can use in custom map waypoints. If you discover a static location where a rare item spawns, you can easily mark it on your map with a custom waypoint, allowing you to get to that location faster each day and farm those rare resources with ease. It can also be a handy way to mark specific locations where rare fish or bugs can be found if you’re hunting for specific species.

Prioritize gold mining

Heartopia character

Gold is the main currency you use to purchase almost everything, from new clothing to items and upgrades to using fast travel waypoints via the bus stop system. Sin embargo, it can be a bit difficult to earn a lot of gold in the beginning. Selling food can be one of the best ways to accumulate money. When you’re starting out, you can make some money by selling fresh fish that you catch. Sin embargo, cooking a fish and chips dish can net you more than 300 gold per plate, making it much more worthwhile. Jam is another good way to make money from food, with raspberry jam fetching the highest price per unit.

If you have wishing stars, you can use them to buy fireworks. Albert is willing to pay a pretty penny for each bundle of fireworks in your inventory, which will net you thousands of gold at once.

Unlock and use Cooking as soon as possible

As mentioned above, cooking can be one of the best ways to quickly and consistently accumulate gold in Heartopia. This is why you want to take advantage of the cooking hobby once you unlock it. It is recommended to set aside gold for purchasing multiple stoves. This allows you to cook multiple dishes at once and maximize your profits when you sell them all to the townspeople.

The best arrangement for cooking is to use four stoves arranged on each side of an empty space in the middle. You can then jump into the middle, making preparing all four dishes a breeze. This will also help you improve your cooking hobby quickly, so it is a relatively practical method to consider.

Check your mailbox daily and claim rewards

Finally, some new players may neglect their mailboxes! By checking your mailbox on your property every day, you can get all sorts of rewards for free. This can be from NPCs, gifts from friends, and even freebies/giveaways from the Heartopia developers for situations such as offline maintenance periods or limited-time events. You’ll be surprised at how many free goodies pile up in your inbox if you don’t check daily. And considering they can all be accessed with a simple press of a button, that’s a quick but important stop to make during your daily gaming session.
