PoE Mirage reveal

As promised, Grinding Gear Games revealed the contents of Path of Exile’s Mirage update during GGG Live today. In the update, coming to PC and console on March 6, players will help the Maraketh Sekhema fight a renegade Faridun sect called Afarud and free their djinn from their slavery.

The Afarud are the worst Faridun and have made a pact with the necromancer Saresh. They seek to control the Djin’s power and use it in a war against the Maraketh. Luckily, players will have help dealing with the group as the aforementioned Sekhema, Varashta, will be on hand. In return, players receive wishes for their help.

Mirage introduces a new Challenge League for the free ARPG. During this league, players will encounter the souls of Jinn captured by the Afarud. To release them, players must enter a Djinn Project mirage and fight their way to the leash to keep them captive. As a reward, players can then choose a wish, which apparently comes in different versions.

Another task players will undertake in Mirage is recovering Maraketh artifacts stolen by the Afarud. The items have been altered over time with Afarud magic. Players can choose to repair them or use them as is if their current state is of greater use.
