After a short wait for players, HoYoverse has finally aired the livestream for Honkai: Star Rail’s upcoming version 4.0 update, “No Aha At Full Moon.” The team has been touting the ahaification of the free-to-play ARPG for some time now with crazy trailers and upcoming character reveals tied to the update – and as it turns out, they’re all vying for the chance to be aha for a minute. It might be a little difficult to see what going “aha” for a minute can do. But I can imagine that a God can accomplish a lot in this time.
The update takes players into the world of Planarcadia, a world where people survive through influence, as you imagine when dealing with streamers and social media personalities. Being noticed is literally the only way to live.
Planarcadia also happens to be Himeko’s homeworld, where she rebuilt the Astral Express. (This may explain her obsession with terrible coffee. Perhaps it was her way of gaining influence when she lived there.) Apparently the planet was once a flat “world on canvas.” But the IPC has long since taken control and the place is overseen by one of the Ten Stone Hearts – Madam Pearl. As such, it’s a pretty busy destination, and with the arrival of half the universe – including one of the Xianzhou generals and several Stelleron hunters – things get even crazier. Of course, the Astral Express crew is also there, and the Trailblazer will represent them in the Ahaified competition.
As for new playable characters, 4.0 introduces two Elation characters: Yuque Yao Guang, the general of the Xianzhou Alliance, and Sparxie (who is not to be confused with Sparkle…it seems Sparkle is a species?). If you’re not sure whether you remember Yao Guang, it’s probably because so far we’ve only heard her voice and seen a glyph depicting her communicating on the Loufu.
Character-wise, the update also improves Black Swan and the OG Sparkle. Oh yes, and there will be new outfits. Players can receive a new Ruan Mei skin as well as a 20-pull reward for logging in after the version releases on February 13th. There are also new outfits and accessories for the Trailblazer. These are free but require time and effort as the outfit and a headband are both available through the Gift of Stardust shop. The outfits don’t differ much from the standard fit. It’s mostly color and pattern changes and a different shirt. It makes a bit of sense since the game’s backstory pretty much states that the Trailblazer just has a closet full of the same outfit.
Players can also look forward to numerous events and rewards, including numerous chances to get their hands on more Stellar Jades. Another lets players choose a free 5-star character. Always a good thing.
For those of you who were wondering how the delay of this update will affect the rhythm of the game, the developers stated during the stream that things would be back on track with 4.2. However, players can expect the 4.1 release schedule to be adjusted to accommodate this.
As always, the livestream included redemption codes. These are AHAHAHAHAHAHA (I checked the number of “AHs” again), QWQXDDLOLOMOAnd HITLIKETOBEAHA.
