A while ago I tried out CRG Studio’s steampunk ARPG Crystalfall during the Steam Next Fest. I’ve written about this experience at length, but overall it wasn’t anything incredibly groundbreaking, just an entertaining game that did pretty much what you’d expect of it within the context of its genre. It ended up being one of the top 50 most downloaded games at Next Fest, adding to players’ wish lists over 120,000 回.
Today the game is available in Early Access. いいえ, it is not the pre-release pay-to-play variant. You can download it now for free. しかし, there were some problems. Since its release, the game has garnered quite a few negative reviews. The most relevant complaint for players in general will likely be the repeated complaints about server issues, with players stating that the servers cannot support the number of players attempting to access the game.
Another repeated complaint is that the game asks players to enter an email address so that a login code can be sent, which players say is related to the company’s Xsolla payment system. さらに, there is a complaint about the game being labeled as an MMO when it is not. The latter may have more to do with Steam’s categorization systems than anything else.
しかし, there is good news. A post on the game’s Steam page points out that the servers have been scaled to support the number of players trying to get in. It won’t be perfect as there is an issue in the Google-hosted backend, but the company is working with Google to fix the issue.
And on the topic of email login, the same post says it’s being removed because it wasn’t meant to be part of the process anyway. Apparently it was something for internal use.
Hopefully these things resolve players’ concerns.
As for the launch and the celebration surrounding it, the development team is hosting weekly challenges for players to participate in and earn credits to spend in-game. Events will take place during the first three weeks of Early Access, with winners announced on Mondays. And if you enjoy the game enough to invest in it, Founder’s Packs are also available.
