Blizzard has announced the next Hearthstone update. The Cataclysm expansion arrives in the free card game on March 17th and asks the all-important question: “What would happen if Deathwing never fell?” In this expansion, Murozond destroyed the Hourglass of Time and opened a portal to a timeline where exactly this happened. Now Deathwing and his six lieutenants seize the opportunity to wreak havoc once again.

To play through this scenario, the very first Deathwing hero card is added to the game. The new maps also include Colossal Minions and the five dragonflights. The former will support Deathwing, while the latter will fight on the side of the heroes. Both use their own keywords: “Herald” for the Colossal servants and “Shatter” for the five dragonflights.

Before the expansion is released, players can look forward to some free extras and special events. First of all, by simply logging into the game, players will receive the legendary card “Warmaster Blackhorn”. There is also an online event, Rally the Dragonflights, that players can participate in to win a free Legendary Ebyssian and two signature copies of Envoy of the End. The event lasts until March 17th.

The in-game event is a two-wave event where players battle the Elemental Lords, as well as Onyxia and Cho’gal, to obtain a selection of cards. Details about these events can be found in Patch notes.
