War Thunder’s major Ninth Wave update is now live on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Of course, the update introduces new vehicles to the free-to-play war shooter, such as the Chinese J-15T multi-role carrier attack aircraft, the Italian Centauro II wheeled tank and the Russian Pantsir-SM-SV anti-aircraft artillery system. There is also the French aircraft carrier Foch. There are dozens of new vehicles for players to pick up.
As excited as the team is about this, the press release begins by announcing a complete redesign of water physics. The rework introduces subsurface scattering, which affects how light interacts with objects located beneath the water’s surface. The overhaul also includes improved representation of sea foam based on “eddy physics and wave resonance” and improves the interaction of objects and water. This means that explosions should be more realistic. So get ready for nicer booms because we all know that’s what you’re really here for. You can find an overview of new vehicles and other new content on the War Thunder site.
