MapleStory M launches on Steam

MapleStory M, a mobile-exclusive entry in the MapleStory franchise, has been doing quite well with more than 75 million registered users worldwide. But as with most things, it could always be better, and that’s probably why Nexon is bringing the game to PC via Steam.

The company today announced the upcoming launch of the free-to-play 2D adventure MMORPG on Valve’s platform. A fully optimized PC version of the game will launch on Steam on March 18th, giving PC players the opportunity to experience MapleStory with AFK and offline progression.

Ahead of its March release, MapleStory M was already available for players to try out as part of the Steam Next Fest that launched today. It will be interesting to see if the Steam version will appeal to existing MapleStory PC players. I suspect it might appeal to those players who have considered trying out the original game but haven’t felt comfortable with the time commitment required when joining an MMO that’s been around for a while. We’ll see.

No entanto, Nexon has prepared some events to celebrate MapleStory M start on Steam. This includes a wish list milestone event. As players wishlist the game on Steam and reach certain milestones, they unlock rewards. If you reach the final goal of 100,000 wishlists, everyone will receive exclusive login rewards.

A second event related to the wish list is the “Wish List Screenshot” event. When players wishlist the game on Steam, they must take a screenshot and share it on Facebook. Winners will be randomly selected from entries on March 18th.
