Hotta Studio hosted a special program today that outlined what players can expect from the NNeverness to Everness version 1.1 アップデート. This is the first content update for the free-to-play supernatural action RPG. In addition to continuing the Scarlet Letter storyline we left off, introducing a new area and providing players with new characters, it also introduces several changes made in response to player feedback.

The stream didn’t go into much detail about what will happen story-wise. We know that players will travel outside of Hethereau to a location called Sunward Island and that there will be a new location anomaly, the Corridor of Echoes. The boss in this area appears to be a statue of a woman.

We also know that the two new characters – our friend Lacrimosa from ETD-4 and our new acquaintance Chaos from ETD-6 – will each have their own storylines. Lacrimosa, our favorite tomato vampire, has the Chaos Esper ability and must be armed with a Liquid Arc. As we’ve seen, she conjures objects out of the air during combat. She is also able to copy the enemies she fights and use her own techniques against them. It’s worth noting that some of these abilities are only available after completing the spinoff quests.

Chaos, who we met during the last mission, has Lakshana’s esper ability and uses a condensation arc. If you remember the dog that appeared at the end of the story and opened the portal, you have seen his ability in action. This means conjuring up a dense fog and giving it shape. The dog is typically the form. 興味深いことに, his ability to summon mist depends on the karma of the people around him. The heavier the karma, the thicker the fog.

The Hound is useful both in and out of combat, as Chaos can leave him on the map. This effectively leaves a waypoint that players can teleport back to if necessary.

Both characters have additional outfits that players can pick up and move into an apartment upon reaching the correct bond level. しかし, it was noted that male and female characters cannot be accommodated in the same apartment. New City Hangout stories are also available for each character.

As for when players will be able to roll with these characters, Lacrimosa and her accompanying story arc will be available once the update releases on June 3rd. Players have three weeks to roll for them, ending on June 24th when Chaos becomes available. Its run will last until July 8th.

If you haven’t been to Hethereau Detention Center yet, you’ll probably want to go once the update arrives. A new gang has taken over the facility and continues to abuse inmates who are weaker than them. Apparently it’s our job to do something about it and we have to take on their leader “Tornado”. The only thing is that we have to do it without using our esper abilities. This means walking up to a big guy and punching him in the face… as many times as necessary. Completing the fight and taking down Tornado will open a new Fight Club activity. It will be available as a solo activity or through matchmaking. Matchmaking mode supports up to four players.

A new racing activity will also be introduced. The Underground Circuit mode is described as a “hard-hitting bumper-to-bumper brawl.” It’s designed for six players, but doesn’t allow them to bring their own vehicles. その代わり, six vehicles appear on the track at the start of the race, and players must secure the vehicle they want before someone else does. しかし, you can choose to pair up with someone in the same car.

The cars are equipped with weapons. Each car is armed in the same way at the start, and new weapons can be obtained by driving through crates left along the track.
