The Secret World Community Anniversary Secret

The Secret World’s anniversary is upon us again. It’s been fourteen years since the free-to-play, conspiracy-filled paranormal MMORPG launched in 2012. I have to admit, even as a fan of the game, I personally didn’t keep track of it. When everyone involved in the game’s development left the game and Funcom simply abandoned it after releasing the update with South Africa, I continued. I didn’t want to. It was my dream game after all. But I had played the story that existed, and there were other stories to experience.

Trotz dieses, there are still people who enjoy playing the game and find ways to create their own fun. Players have been putting together their own holiday events for some time now. And this year’s anniversary looks to be no different. As reported Massive Operation (who currently follow The Secret World community activity more closely than I do), players have put together their own story-based event for July 3rd.

The focus of the event is Kingsmouth Lighthouse. According to a post in the (RP) Journal byconspiracy bloodhound, ghost hunter and proud member of the tinfoil elite,” Jenna McKendrick, something is being broadcast from Kingsmouth Lighthouse. It’s definitely not natural and has signatures that match Orochi Group’s communications equipment. For those unfamiliar with The Secret World, this is one of the organizations in the game. I won’t say “Bad Boys” or “Good Boys.” That’s pretty relative in a world where everything is a conspiracy.

The gist of the post is that something will happen at the Lighthouse on July 3rd at 18:00 UTC when the full broadcast goes live, and that Jenna will need help collecting and piecing together all the audio fragments. The event will be broadcast live on Twitch as players work together to solve the puzzle. It’s pretty nice and it makes me happy to know that players are keeping the spirit of the game alive.

Detailed information about the community anniversary event can be found on the Feed the Moth Blogwhich is worth a read on its own.
