MMO as an Arcane fan” width=”812″ height=”456″ />
Suchen, I’m going to keep things real. I am one of those people who have never played League of Legends in my life and know everything I know about the world of Runeterra through the Arcane show. Jedoch, this show was such an artistic masterpiece that it gave me and many others around the world a long-term interest in the characters and lore of Runeterra. It’s also a pretty well-known fact that Riot Games has been working on an MMO game set in the world of Runeterra.
This provides the perfect opportunity to get a larger audience interested in the characters and world, beyond the usual MOBA audience. But what exactly will the Riot MMO include? Also, things have been kept pretty tightly under wraps so far. League players can of course have their own ideas that they would like to see in this new project. Jedoch, it’s also important to consider fans like me who have become invested through Arcane or otherwise. Ohne weiteres, as an Arcane fan unfamiliar with League of Legends, hier sind 5 things I’d like to see in the world of Riot’s Runeterra MMO.
In-depth world exploration depicting Runeterra’s deep knowledge

Erstens, if there’s one (somewhat overwhelming) thing that’s become clear to me about Runeterra, it’s that the world is absolutely huge and there are hundreds of characters across the many locations, each with their own backstories and lore developments. A world with so much lore should feel alive and full of hidden secrets to explore. It’s the little things that matter, zu – players want to stroll the streets where their favorite characters grew up, visit historic locations and landmarks, and carve their own adventure paths through familiar worldbuilding and storytelling environments they’ve grown to love.
Perhaps the thing I’m most excited about in a Riot MMO is simply learning more about the world of Runeterra along the way. I only saw two cities in the plot of Arcane – Zaun and Piltover. And as much as I’m excited about potentially exploring these places, it’s the unknown that really excites me about the concept. Schließlich, it’s obviously a huge world – I wouldn’t know for sure, remember? Jedoch, based on the quality of Riot’s previous projects, I have high expectations for beautiful landscapes, quirky townships, memorable characters, and the ability to use numerous weapons, Magie, and technological devices/powers to allow you creative new ways to navigate the world.
Lively environments with recognizable companions/NPCs

One of the coolest things about the world of Runeterra is the wide variety of characters across the lands. While it might be a bit of a stretch to see every hero, it would be a given to include at least a good portion of some of League’s most popular characters. The most likely way is to make them persistent NPCs in relevant locations that provide information about the story or quests.
To take it a step further, if there was an option to recruit these characters for specific quests, even temporarily, it would increase immersion and give everyone a personal connection to their favorite heroes and villains. Ehrlich, the world would feel a bit strange without any trace of familiar characters, but to keep the scope realistic the developers will probably have to be pretty picky. Jedoch, this approach could open up the possibility of adding seasonal content or notable updates that add new familiar areas to explore, and use this as an opportunity to add some new NPCs or companions each time.
Weapon classes and types that offer unlimited building potential

This is where things get interesting, because of course there are the classic physical weapons. But Runeterra is also brimming with magic, hextech, chemtech and many other things, Ich bin sicher. It has been heavily hinted that the game will be a third-person MMO with action-based combat. Imagine being able to customize and customize your character’s approach to combat not only based on their weapon type (pistol, dagger, Schwert, hammer, etc.), but also based on a weapon class. Perhaps each category could offer different bonus effects or provide the player with buffs, Nerven, or passive benefits when used.
It would also be very interesting if players perhaps started with simple weapons, but could learn to make Hextech or Chemtech through quests, skill development, and item acquisition. Learning how these technologies work could be a very fun experience and part of the classic MMO work of optimizing your build for a specific theme or play style. Just look at how crazy people went with the builds in Baldur’s Gate 3 because of all the weapon + skill/race/item combinations; It’s just one of those things that can really attract players.
Alternativ, combat and progression could work largely the same for magic types and magic classes if a player chooses to forego physical weapons and do something more flashy instead. Endlich, there are three basic types of magic in Runeterra: elemental, spirit, and celestial. Each of these types of magic has many different subcategories, so it would be interesting to start with relatively simple elemental magic skills and unlock different forms of magic over time through knowledge and skills. The ability to focus on one or a combination of select magical forms to master them could further enhance them in combat and give users a real sense of progression. Waffen, magic and technology influence much of Runeterra, so connection should be a priority. It’s kind of like that every type of character build, even under the same “Rolle” oder “Klasse”, has the potential to be completely different from one another, which could completely capture my attention and cause me to put a worrying amount of hours into a game.
Strong player interaction through factions and raids/group quests

Factions are a standard feature in many MMORPG games. In Arcane alone, which in turn takes place in a location in Runeterra, there are several groups that could become factions in the game – the Enforcers, the Jinxers, the Firelights, the Chem-Barons and the Noxian Forces. The ability to dedicate yourself to a specific group or faction and get unique collectibles, in-game items and rewards, or even skills/passives could be a lot of fun. Zum Beispiel, from the example above, the Noxian Forces could get passive buffs for combat-heavy stats and a special attack, while the Firelights could get passive movement speed and access to the hoverboard.
Jedoch, since there are so many potential factions to consider in Runeterra, it might be best to take a different approach than factions. I think it would be interesting to be able to interact with multiple groups/factions in the game through specific quest lines to earn different items, Waffen, and cosmetics. Then on the player side it could be really interesting to have a more classic guild system where players create their own faction. Imagine having your own secret meeting points with other guild members across the map, having the ability to exchange items, build a base or hideout in a specific city/area, and even take on special group/faction-based missions around the world. Raiding against other factions could involve action-based combat, provide an opportunity to earn/steal valuable loot and items, or even take over enemy territories. There is truly unlimited potential for what kind of player interactions and PvP/PvE could be incorporated into the game.
Eater Eggs in the Arcane Game (& Welcome to Noxus)

Natürlich, there are so many things that can be discussed when talking about an MMO set in the League of Legends world of Runeterra. Jedoch, if there is one thing above all for me as an Arcane fan, it is a few Easter Eggs to the Arcane story! While I’m eager to explore and learn more about new areas of the world, the idea of being able to visit Zaun and Piltover as locations in an MMO is incredibly exciting. I want to be able to run through streets full of Piltover civilians or parkour my way across rooftops towards Zaun. I want to be able to visit areas where the characters grew up and famous locations from the series like the Kiramman Mansion, the Council Chamber, Jinx’s Hideout, Silco’s Hideout, Stillwater Prison, the Firelights Base, und mehr.
Even some of the characters and their associates are known by something as simple as an object or a symbol. Imagine finding an old trace of Jinx’s classic scribble-like markings on the streets of Zaun, or being able to look at the painted mural found at the Firelights base/tree. Even small details, like the ability to discover and read ancient studies on Hextech or Jace and Viktor’s development notes, or the ability to walk through a graveyard that pays tribute to some of the more notable deaths in Arcane, would add a lot to the immersion and give fans something recognizable to draw them in as they learn more about the world as a whole.
Am wichtigsten, adding Easter eggs from the show doesn’t have to be exclusive to Arcane. Riot continues its animated series with “Welcome to Noxus,” which opens up the possibility for even more content, such as time-limited quests tied to the ongoing story, new relevant areas appearing and discovered on the map, or even new items, Waffen, and cosmetic additions related to the series. It’s truly an opportunity to bring together fans of the Runeterra world from individual games and media such as League of Legends, Arcane, Teamfight Tactics and other spin-offs.
