We still have a little time until the next Steam Next Fest. (Although I know some developers are preparing for this.) But that’s okay, because Steam seems pretty adept at coming up with festival theme ideas. Na verdade, right now (and running until Monday, May 25th) Steam Ocean Fest is underway.
The idea is pretty simple: put together a series of games that have something to do with the sea. These can be pirate games, war games, pesca, sailing or simulations – just to name a few. When I saw that a new Steam fest was underway, I decided to browse the free-to-play offerings. Admittedly there aren’t many, but it’s a decent amount. I have a few here for you to check out, but if you don’t like any of them you can check out the full list on the website Ocean Fest page.
The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt

Uh. The Age of Pirates. Always a good time, as long as it’s digital and you’re not really in danger of getting scurvy. The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt from Home Net Games is a mix of solo play and online co-op/PvP. Players command fleets of ships in battles and raids. Os recursos do jogo 20 ship classes and players can build fleets of any size. The game also offers five different types of ammunition. You’ve got your cannonballs, chainballs, grapeshot bombs and more. Claro, you need to be able to board enemy ships, and that means also having things like battering rams on hand. Both ships and captains are upgradeable. Honestamente, the game seems to have a number of nice features. Adicionalmente, there is even a story-based campaign that players will enjoy.
If you like Caribbean Hunt, you might also be interested in another game with the same IP. The Pirate: Plague of the Dead.
sirocco
This is for the MOBA fans if you don’t mind your lanes being the water between the islands. Sirocco is a 5v5 MOBA that takes combat to the sea. Aside from the whole water combat thing, what sets the game apart from other MOBAs is that it doesn’t have fixed roles, allowing players to swap skills mid-game. And instead of a farming arena, it has an “auto-fire arena” that’s based on teamfights rather than killing NPCs.
Pancake sailor
If you’re looking for something more relaxing, look no further than Pancake Sailor. Players explore the island of Akalan in the Caribbean with their sailboat. The game offers simple controls, impressive sound and lots to explore. The game includes an online co-op mode that allows players to sail together or even take part in racing action.
Aquarius
Você sabe, I’d say Aquarius was intended to be a more relaxing offering than a MOBA or a pirate game, but it’s designed in the style of a 90s arcade game. Na verdade, it reminds me of Ecco the dolphin. Only, you’re a diver. But the point is, you’re still swimming through tight spaces, trying to avoid danger all the time. Just like in the real ocean, almost everything seems to be against you. The good news is that there appear to be level-up abilities, such as unlocking a submarine.
The Day of the Jellyfish
While we’re on the subject of pixel-style games, how about a point-and-click comedy? In “The Day of the Jellyfish,” players take on the roles of Hank and Duck, whose concert plans have been put on hold due to a “Coke-based” jellyfish invasion. This is a single-player adventure game in which players play as two characters to solve puzzles while defeating evil jellyfish so they can hold their concert.
So-called
Here we are again at the sea battles. This time you have something more to contend with than other ships and their captains. How about some giant sea monsters? Por exemplo, large creatures or leviathans emerging from the sea to toss your ship around. Sounds like a good time, certo? Like other multiplayer naval battle games, players can upgrade their ships and captains as the game progresses, making survival more likely.
Combat isn’t just about firing cannonballs at each other. Ships can be rammed, held and boarded. Ships have armor, so players must be smart about how they attack.
Peixe: First catch
What would the sea be without a little fishing? This final game is a speed fishing adventure with a twist. The player’s boat is powered by fish. This doesn’t seem like a very big game. It features three levels, sobre 15 exotic deep sea creatures and a puzzle for players to solve. It probably has something to do with why there is a horse in the ocean and whales in the sky.
Players roll dice as they would in most fishing games, but they don’t necessarily stop once they catch the fish. Catch a powerful fish and let it pull your boat while you use the fishing rod to steer. You can even use two rods and get twice the fishing power.
