Guild Wars Mistbound

It seems like it’s a big time for Guild Wars-related announcements lately. Not long ago, Guild Wars 3 was revealed. And now we learn that a Guild Wars CCG is in the works. The upcoming game titled Mistbound is not developed by ArenaNet. Instead, the company licensed it to NC for development with bilibili Publishing.

If you don’t play a lot of Chinese-made games, you may not be aware of the latter, while any of you who play games from HoYoverse or Kuro have probably at least seen it mentioned, if not even watched videos shared from there. Bilibili is primarily a video sharing site in China. While players share their own creations there, it is also used by game developers and often features trailers, game teasers, and similar media exclusive to the site.

This does not mean that the game will be limited to China. Bilibili will release it worldwide. However, Bilibili will use its status as “the Chinese YouTube” and its large user base to gather player feedback during development.

The game is based on the mechanics of “multi-directional card movement” and lets players take on the role of a commander overseeing a battlefield. Gameplay takes place on a 5×3 tactical grid where players place cards and move them as needed during rounds. The game’s “Dynamic Movement Gameplay” feature allows cards to move in different directions each turn. Further details about the game can be found on the official site.
