Today there was some interesting news about Riot’s League of Legends MMO. No, this wasn’t a big announcement of any kind. Rather, it was a change to a LinkedIn profile and a post on Twitter. And the news is the same: former World of Warcraft developer Brian Holinka is now a member of the League of Legends MMO development team. Specifically, he is the main game designer as of today.

Of course, there isn’t much information beyond that. However, we do know that Holinka was the lead PvP designer for World of Warcraft during his Blizzard days. So it’s possible he brings that kind of expertise to the game. Or his work could be much more general in nature. Whatever the case, we know that League MMO development is still progressing. At least enough to justify hiring a Principal Game Designer.

Since this is Summer Game Fest week, maybe we’ll get lucky and some news about the game will be revealed on Friday. However, we might have to be really, really lucky for that to happen.
