The May update for The First Descendant is live and players can now experience the changes that come with it. The three big highlights of this update are the reorganization of the game’s farming loop, an update to Onslaught mode, and the introduction of the Ultimate Esimo Descendant.
Starting today, the free-to-play shooter’s farming loop will offer players more convenience. They will be able to obtain “essential early game descendants and weapons once they enter Hard difficulty.” To do this, they collect a material called “Active Shard”. The further they progress, the faster the material will be collected, which should help maintain the pace. Additionally, Amorphous Material will no longer be classified by number but by descendant, making it easier for players to obtain blueprints.
Several changes have been made to Assault Mode. The turrets have been rebalanced and a taunt feature has been added to the barricades. A bombardment support service, resource gathering routes, and more will improve resource gathering. Skills now have levels and types. Dialogues and entry sequences have been added to missions. Finally, the reward system has been redesigned around weekly reset rewards, allowing players to earn up to four Ancestral Modules with guaranteed rolls per week.
The third highlight, the Descendant Ultimate Esimo, features two new transcendent modules: “Rampaging Mad Bomber” and “Explosion Maestro”. The first changes the effects on his passive and active abilities. The latter is a link skill that doubles the number of bombs attached when Arche Blast is used. His equipment is an explosion-proof Ark transition suit. For an overview of Esimo and the rest of the update, check out the stream below.
