Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch has a new publisher in South Korea. Today, the developer announced that Nexon will take over the publishing of the game in August, offering players in the region a truly own local version.

Given the popularity of other Blizzard projects in South Korea, such as StarCraft, it may seem a bit strange that this didn’t happen sooner. But maybe now was the best time. Finally, Blizzard recently announced a partnership with Nexon for the StarCraft IP and more recently made some pretty big changes to the Overwatch IP – like renaming Overwatch 2 back to Overwatch. In any case, it seems to be good news for South Korean fans.

Of course, players will need to register a Nexon account and link their existing Overwatch account to it. The website is already available for players to do just that. As always with such things, there are rewards for completing registration early. Players just need to make sure this is done before August 11th. And if there’s any concern, the website states that all records and experience of existing accounts will be retained after the transfer.
