Steam Bullet Fest

Steam Next Fest is returning soon. In fact, there are only four days left. But that didn’t stop Steam from hosting a different kind of festival this week: the Steam Bullet Fest. This is for all the Bullet Hell fans out there.

As you would expect, most of the participating games are buy-to-play games. After all, the idea is to encourage players to buy the game by sharing a demo. But there are also some free-to-play games that take part. And some of them probably just flew under your radar. So we have selected a few for you to check out. Of course you can also take a look at all the offers on the Bullet Fest page as long as it’s live.

The list will definitely contain a few well-known titles. Realm of the Mad God Exalt is at the top of the list. You won’t see it here on our list because there’s really no point in telling you about games you already know. So this list contains games that have positive reviews from the few players who found the game and left reviews.

ITZO

To be fair, it’s a little difficult to judge the actual quality of this game based on reviews alone since it only has 10 points. But it has a positive rating based on these reviews, which call the game “entertaining” and “charming.” It’s an 8-bit space shooter with more than 25 playable ships – some of which appear to be fewer than traditional. Apparently you can have a duck boat. The game also features more than 75 weapons and five different bosses. All in all, you’re looking at a 400MB download. So it’s worth giving the game a try.

Kill the Demon Lord

Kill the Demon Lord

The graphics of this Bullet Hell are quite minimalistic. If you’re not a fan of red and black, you should probably avoid this. That being said, Kill the Demon Lord was released late last year and most reviews are pretty positive. There are a few negative points, but considering that one of them told players that it might be too difficult for players new to the genre, I think we can give it a try. It should be noted that the game also appears to contain some visual novel elements.

Dustin Sunset

Dustin Sunset

This small vertical post-apocalyptic shooter came out in January. Players take on the role of a biker armed with a grappling hook. This allows the character to move between vehicles and take control of them. The goal is to use the cars to prevent Sunset’s house from being demolished. Like the other games on this list, there aren’t many reviews, but those who have taken the time to read it seem to enjoy it.

Terra Feminarum

Of all the games on this list, I have to say this is one of the prettier ones. It is hand drawn with HD graphics. It is also story focused, with the seven chapters set in the land of Pohjola. There’s even a story mode for those who want to experience this separately. The game also offers four difficulty levels, ranging from Beginner to Brutal.

Infinite Summoning

Even on the artistic side, Infinite Incantation is a paper craft style game. Players cast spells against waves of enemies. Progression is based on dice. Players roll dice to develop their spells. Characters can also be customized through RPG-style upgrades. Here too, the reviews of the game are quite positive. Those who are negative seem to focus on not liking the randomization of spell evolutions.
