Fortnite x Overwatch

It seems a little strange to me that I’ve never thought about a crossover between Fortnite and Overwatch before. I think I just got used to things like the music concerts and Doctor Who landing on the island. I was so used to the silliness that collaborating with Blizzard’s free-to-play team shooter never even occurred to me.

And yet here we are. Overwatch is invading Fortnite until June 4th. And it seems it’s more than just skins and other cool cosmetics. Accordingly the post on Blizzard’s websiteFortnite players will also get a taste of Overwatch gameplay, with things like payload pushes, healing beams, and blink fights. The crossover will also bring Overwatch locations such as Busan Sanctuary and Hanamura Courtyard to the island, among others.

Players can actually meet Tracer and Mercy in these areas. Both brought their weapons for the players. Tracer’s Pulse Pistols put players in first-person perspective, allowing them to blink over short distances and even use Recall to rewind time a bit. Mercy’s Caduceus Staff allows players to keep a teammate alive using a healing beam. Players with the staff equipped can also glide through the air.

Meanwhile, Genji and D.Va will be recruitable allies. However, players have to look for them. They won’t just show up and offer to help.

As players battle across the island during this crossover, they unlock new game modes and rewards. Gameplay includes things like the Rift Anomaly payload, while rewards consist of chests, sprays, and more.
