It’s been about seven months since Gaijin Entertainment announced plans to add infantry battles to its free-to-play war vehicle shooter War Thunder. Now the company has announced that the third round of closed beta testing for the upcoming feature will take place this month and applications are open to participate. The test takes 128 players to a new map based in Africa called “Kivu.”

The map is four times larger than other infantry locations and battles take place around capture points. The test will include a full range of modern military equipment as well as small arms favored by the US and Russia. During the test, players will be able to try out a number of new game rules designed to support larger battles. For example, players can respawn at their team’s capture points instead of having to flee the base each time. (Don’t worry, you can still respawn at the base too.)

New additions include troop transport vehicles that can transport up to five players at the same time. This should make deployment easier. But I can imagine that this also makes these five people easier targets.

An official start date for the test has not yet been set. But if you want to take part, you can fill out a form Application on the War Thunder website. Simply click on the large button associated with the platform of your choice. Make sure you do the test quickly Is is scheduled to take place sometime this month.
