As we all know, Destiny 2 will soon receive its final content update. Monument of Triumph will be released on June 9th, bringing the final batch of playable content to the game. This isn’t the end of the free-to-play shooter, but it will be the end of everything new.
Unlike other games that have followed the same path, Destiny 2 doesn’t just abruptly stop. They didn’t just announce store closures either. Instead, the development team has created a full content update that introduces much (if not all) of what they hoped to offer players in future updates. Since these updates are no longer on the table, the content will be provided in one large package.
I admit, I’m curious to see how this will work out. It’s pretty obvious that the developers intended to roll things out over time to give them enough time to make sure they worked properly. As the deadline for these features has been pushed back and more and more of them are being phased out at once, they may not be exactly what the team wants. The good news is that the developers don’t just delete the content and move on; They’ll be working on things for a while. It will only be what is present as of the upcoming update. Nothing more will be added.
Based on the trailer below, it seems the update will give players enough to keep them busy for a while, which is great. And if the changes in quality of life and such take effect, those who want to stay a while should have a good time.
